What is out of network medical practice?

"Medical practice that is out of network" refers to a practice that does not have a contract with an insurance company. Patients pay the practice directly for services, and the practice provides a superbill for submission to the insurance company.

What are the benefits of out of network medical care?

The benefits of out-of-network medical care include more personalized and enhanced services not normally available in a traditional medical practice, such as extended office hours, direct access to the physician, same or next-day appointments, unhurried office visits, short wait times, and coordination with specialists for diagnosis and treatment of complex issues.

If I have Medicare, can I be a patient of the practice?

If a patient has Medicare, they can still be a patient of the practice. However, as Dr. Kundapur has opted out of Medicare Program, Medicare will not cover any portion of the fee for services provided by Dr. Kundapur. The patient will need to sign a Medicare opt-out contract. Dr. Kundapur will not submit any claims to Medicare, and you may not submit claims to Medicare for payment for any services provided by Dr Kundapur.  Dr. Kundapur may continue to write prescriptions and orders for lab, x-ray, and other services needed outside of her practice, and your Medicare coverage will continue to cover all other physicians, hospitals, and labs.

How much is the office fee, and what payment options are available?

The initial consultation/physical examination fee ranges from $250 to $350, while follow-up appointment fees range from $150 to $250. Telehealth visits have a fee that is 10% lower than in-person visits. Fee is based on complexity and duration of the visit. You may use your HSA/FSA/Medical Savings Plan or other forms of payments (cash, check, credit card).

I have a Health Spending Account, Flexible Spending Account, or a Medical Savings Plan through work.  Can I use that to pay for the office visit?

Health Spending Accounts, Flexible Spending Plans, or Medical Savings Plans can be used to pay for office visits and reduce out-of-pocket expenses.

Do I have to pay for lab tests and radiology studies?

Dr. Kundapur will order all lab work and radiology tests at a facility that participates with your insurance.
